We are writing to inform you of an upcoming change to port-related charges in Dublin Port. These charges will affect freight units passing through the port from 01 March 2026 onwards.

Dublin Port Company (DPC) has confirmed that it will introduce a new Infrastructure Levy, which will be applied to each freight unit. Please note that this charge will apply in both directions for all Dublin routes.

Dublin Port Company will invoice all ferry operators, so that charges are subsequently passed on in full to hauliers and customers. Stena Line will act solely as an intermediary in this process; the levy is a port charge, determined, owned and retained entirely by Dublin Port Company.

Stena Line has actively opposed the introduction of this levy and has sought engagement on both a commercial and political level. Unfortunately, these efforts have not resulted in a reconsideration of the decision or further discussion on the matter. Despite our objections, the levy will be implemented by the port authority on 01 March 2026. To help you prepare for that deadline we want to share key information.

What is the Infrastructure Levy?

DPC has stated that the levy is being introduced to fund significant investments in port infrastructure, driven by increased construction costs, capacity constraints and an expanded long-term capital programme.
